50 th Anniversary Scottsdale Arabian Horse Show
February 18-27, 2005 – WestWorld, Scottsdale

A wonderful group of dynamic speakers will be at the Scottsdale Arabian Horse Show, they will include: Lee Smith, Philipp Kast, Sgt. Tom Hill and the Scottsdale Police Mounted Unit. Each of the speakers will be giving a “hands-on” demonstration at the 2005 Scottsdale Arabian Horse Show.

Lee Smith – Smith from Wickenburg , AZ , has a unique philosophy, “Don’t simply focus on doing what I do but learn to see what I see!” Regardless of your discipline, Smith can help you raise your level of performance by focusing on the partnership of horse and rider working together in harmony. Smith offers insight, skill and tools to help you enjoy your horse, while developing your horsemanship skills in the process, through feel, timing, balance, and an in depth understanding of equine psychology.

Philipp Kast - Kast a professional horse trainer for the past 30 years specializes in Dressage and Sport Horse. Philipp has trained in Germany to exhibit Sport Horses and has shown many different breeds including Arabians. During the Sport Horse demonstration he will focus on the rules of Sport Horse classes, discuss the proper tack, what the judges are looking for, and preparing the horse for the class.

Sgt. Tom Hill & the Scottsdale Police Mounted Unit - Began in 1985 with two horses and two officers. The mounted unit has gone through many changes during the past 18 years. Today the unit has eight horses, five full time riders and five reserve riders. The officers and their mounts patrol our city parks, neighborhoods, and the many large special events held in Scottsdale . Before being allowed out on patrol, the horse and rider attend an intensive five-week mounted police-training program. Due to the dangerous situations the mounted patrol face on the street they’re trained to be able to handle an array of obstacles and arrest procedures. During the Scottsdale Arabian Horse Show, the Scottsdale Police Mounted Unit will provide demonstrations on how they interact with criminals, crowd control and arrest procedures.
